Weather in Pag

Long, sunny summers, a warm sea and the famous Bora wind.

A Mediterranean climate

Pag has a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry and sunny summers and mild, wetter winters. The main beach season runs from June to September, when the sea in Pag bay is warm and the days are long. Late spring and early autumn are quieter and pleasant for walking, cycling and exploring the island.

Sep – Nov

Autumn

September is still warm for swimming. Later, rain and wind become more frequent.

Dec – Feb

Winter

Mild but windy, with the strongest Bora. Quiet time on the island.

The Bora

The Bora (bura) is a cold, gusty north-easterly wind that rushes down from the Velebit mountains. It is strongest in winter, but can also blow for a day or two in summer, bringing clear air, cooler nights and a rougher sea. On Bora days, beaches on the sheltered south-western side of the island are the best choice. The Bora can also interrupt the Prizna–Žigljen ferry and limit traffic on the Pag bridge, so check the forecast before you travel.
